My wife lisa and I have been fighting this for two years with her 450 Rebel. Tonight, I stuck in a new battery, left the tank off, and kept feeding it Carquest brand starting fluid until it quit blowing clouds of thick black smoke. Tried a bit of gas, and boom, fired right off. Of, course, it still won't pull enough fuel to stay running, but at least it will try to cooperate now.
I know, this is off topic, but thought the top end cleanout with starting fluid might help with the Savage.
